Decorator Showcase Bathroom Designs
The best way to see the beauty of modern bathroom designs is to check out bathroom showcases which show the new trends of designing while at the same time giving options to people who want to explore new designs applicable to their home.
With so many designers bound to show what they have in mind as far as concept and designs are concerned, people are sure to have a ball on which design to implement in their homes.
Designer showcases often take the average homeowner on a flight of fancy, presenting overflowing libraries, oversize parlors and overstocked exercise rooms – none of which fit the footprint of the Bay Area’s space-challenged cottages and condos.
Every home has a bathroom, however. And this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase showers visitors with eight bathrooms and three powder rooms, all of them remodeled in different ways.

Tarnished Fixtures
The many tarnished faucets and other fixtures that grace our bathrooms are sure sign of either age of the galvanic effect of different metals getting in touch together causing an electro-chemical reaction even when it shouldn’t. In layman’s terms, the fixture that was designed not to rust is rusting, resulting in that ugly orange stain that simply won’t go away.
Taking you back to your basic chemistry, we know that for the basic chemical battery to work, you need two different metals and an acid to initiate the reaction resulting in an electric charge. In the case of your bathroom, most fixtures are made of either brass or zinc, combined with the copper or galvanized steel pipes and there you have the beginnings of a chemical battery. To avoid the stains or rusting, try to use isolators that keeps similar metals together, separating them to ensure it doesn’t become a problem.
Shower Curtains
These used to be the only way to tame the water from the shower that if left to splash all over the place can lead to a slip and the ugly water stains all over. They usually come in linen or some other artificial fabric that resists mildew and stains but eventually they will dry out and become brittle, crumbling into nothing.
Want a sure way to keep them clean and not absorb water, get hold of some liquid or paste wax you use on your car, apply and buff (try in an inconspicuous place for color fastness for some contain potent solvents) making sure you remove all traces of the wax. You could also use fabric protectors used on the car’s interiors that come in liquid form making it easier to apply, simply spray and dry. You’ll see the water running off without having to worry about staining in the long run.
