Designing a Better Bath

The basics:
1. Lavatory area should be at least be behind a half-wall. Having wall mounted fixtures makes cleaning easier.
2. Roll in showers should include a bench seat and the tiles should slant toward the drain so as to keep the outside floor dry.
3. Tubs should be built with a raised area, not steps and if possible with handrails for a safer setting.
4. Heating sources like heat lamps or exhaust fans should be installed near the open shower.
5. When putting windows and skylights, remember to make it proportional to the total area of the bathroom.
6. Full mirrors can make small baths look large.
7. Functional areas should be properly lighted.
